General info:
After playing a load of poorly though out- 'lets put every single effect Hl2 has to offer and hundereds of physics objects in a totally awsome map'maps I decided I would try my hand at hammer... And this is the result. Just yer good old fasioned rocket arena with a big laser in the middle.
Known bugs:
- For some reason your oxygen thingy goes down when you are not under water. But you do not loose any health.

Comments:
This map is the result of my first mapping experience with the Hammer editor. Thats the
reason why its surely not perfect.
During the map developement ive got a realy bad bug on it so that the player was able to see
troug the sky inside the "cellblock area" from the roof of the large "outsidearea". I have
no idear what this bug is about and so i had to build this ugly looking big black wall in
between.
But i still hope you will enjoy!

Diese map ist das Resultat meiner ersten mappingversuche mit dem Hammereditor. Die map ist
mit sicherheit nicht die perfekteste aber es hat verdammt viel arbeit gekostet sich mit
dem editor vertraut zu machen und dinge zu testen. ;)
Während der Schlussphase hatte ich mit einem schweren Grafikbug zu kämpfen, der verursachte,
dass man von den Dächern des Aussenareals durch den Himmel in die angrenzende "Häuserschlucht"
gucken konnte.
Als letzten ausweg musste ich wohl oder übel diese hässliche riesig schwarze Wand dazwischen
setzen...
Hoffe die map macht trotzdem Laune!

This is a mech vehicle for HL2 by Cannonfodder.

This vehicle may be used for any non-commercial purpose.
Extract this file in your half-life 2hl2 directory
There is also a map named maps/cf_mechwars.bsp which allows you to try the mech without building your own map.
This map has two mechs to allow mech vs mech or just run around and blow stuff up.
To use this in your own map do the following:
1) copy maps/cf_mech1.vmf to you prefab directory.
2) In hammer select cf_mech1 and press"insert original prefab"
2) If you want a second mech select cf_mech2 and press"insert original prefab"
If you want more than two mechs in your map you will need to edit cf_mech1.vmf. Otherwise the
entity names will collide.
To add an additional mech open cf_mech1.vmf in a text editor. Replace "mech1" with "mech3". Save as cf_mech3.vmf
and include this as a prefab for the third mech.
To get the custom sounds to work place the following in game_sounds_vehicles.txt (I know this suck's, but it is the only
I know to get the sounds to work correctly since they need the pitch entry).

Installation

Simply extract the contents of this zip to your SteamApps/steamaccount/half-life 2/hl2/maps, or,
in the case of a deathmatch game, SteamApps/steamaccount/half-life 2 deathmatch/hl2mp/maps, and
retain the file structure (to make sure the node graph goes in the right place). When Windows tells
you "there's already a folder called 'graphs', are you sure you want to do this?", or something to
that effect, just say yes.
Play
----
All you gotta do is press one of the buttons to trigger an explosion. See those clusters of small
beams halfway up the main supports? That's where the explosions take place. The bottom left button
triggers the cluster closest to you, on the left. The other buttons correspond to other columns, or
combinations thereof.
Notes
----
Not much to say about this thing; just a little physics test kinda thing I started working on after
having so much fun playing around in GoldenShadow's "Trebuchet" map. I had loads of fun, and have
always enjoyed riding others' coattails, so I figured what the hey?
There ARE four deathmatch spawn points in there that I tossed in for the heck of it, in case you want
to try the map out with others, but I wouldn't recommend it. This wasn't designed as a real DM level,
and runs somewhat slowly as it is. I'm not sure how it'll handle on a network. Plus, it's not much fun
for combat, as there are no weapons to speak of. It's really just a playground.
Another note, I've included the source file for this, so you can see how much friggin' work goes
into something like this; I'm not sure it was worth it. You'll see that I have a set of handrails
and some furniture in the map, that's hidden; I did this in the interest of speed, as compiling it
into the map slowed things down dramatically. I've left the visgroup in the file for any parties wit(...)

Alpha 2 changes:
This is a minor update to slightly improve textures, add the 357, crossbow, fix some terrain issues,etc. More importantly, I have tried to provide simpler installation.
Upcoming Changes:
-Fix warthog physics and view to more closely match original
-Add Gunner position
-Fix brush issues on bases
-Further refine textures
-Set Team Specific spawns
-Merge textures into BSP to allow simpler downloading/updates.
Installation:
1) unzip barney_gulchA2.bsp to the "half-life 2 deathmatchhl2mpmaps" folder.
2) unzip the BG folder to the "half-life 2 deathmatchhl2mpmaterials" folder.
3) unzip the hoggm folder to the "half-life 2 deathmatchhl2mpmodels" folder.
4) VERY IMPORTANT: Now that you have unrared the files, go to the "half-life 2 deathmatchhl2mpmaterialsBG" folder (from Step 2) and move this hoggm folder to the "half-life 2 deathmatchhl2mpmaterialsmodels" folder.
* If you do not do step 4, the warthog will not have any textures.
NOTE: It seems that the Dedicated Server does not have the code for vehicles, so they will not show up if you host using the dedicated server. Hopefully this will be changed soon.
Big thanks to Cannonfodder for his vehicle tutorial and all those at hl2world.com for their advice and support. Updates will be released there first and I will try to respond to questions there.

is where my maps are.
Buttons and other stuff ingame:
the blue base contains 3 controls, the door to blue base, the Thumpers, and the front lights.
The thumper is located in the middle, the lights are toward the opposite base, and the door is closest to the exit
the same applies for the other base, minus the thumper button, there is none in the red base.

i spent about 2 days on this map testing out different things and seeing what works best
YES i know its small, its a close counters map, at time of writing i am in the process of making a larger version with more features.

Same for the people scrapping the website, I won't overlook this behavior anymore, please use the website the "normal" way. Let's have a better experience for everyone.

Clouflare enforces IPv6 connection but since the website/forum doesn't support well IPv6, I need to enable an option to keep IPv4, but it's not the real IP and it's detected as proxy. I guess I can remove the warning, doesn't matter much.

I don't get why you are insisting everyone pays for your server. If you can't afford 33 euros a month, why don't you just upload the map archive of people's work, instead of demanding people pay your server hosting bill.

Plenty of people (myself included) would just host it for free without restrictions.

I mean you can get an used laptop with decent specs for like 200-300 euros, host the website on it, pay barely anything at all for electricity, and just need to pay for the domain alone which is much cheaper than the hosting. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but wouldn't this work?
