StoryLine :
After beeing discovered in the 30' by a famous archaeologist, called Dr Jones,
the Ark of the Covenant, has just been refound. It was hidden in a the little
monastery called "Le MOnt Sainte Odile" in the East of France.
This place is know to have a lot of mystic vibrations and unknown properties.
The oppening of the Ark could destroy all the religions Rules in the World.
So the most powerfull regligions in the World : Christian, the Muslims and the Jews have
formed a secret-terrorists group in order to destroy the Ark.
There are 2 ways to destroy the Ark :
- Bomb the Ark directly
- Destroy the whole monastery
Terrorist : Destroy the Ark of Covenant or the whole "Mont Sainte Odile"
a famous Alsatian (East of France) monastery from the VII th century.
There are 2 Bomb points on the rock where the monastery is built.
Counters-Terrorists : Stop the terrorist action.

Storyline:
The FBI has been informed of a possible strike
against the mafia family leader in New Jersey
by an anonymous call to a local police station.
Once the police had reason to believe the threat
was real they evacuated Bernardigio Nuccio's family
from his residence which was located above his
Italian restaurant. The police know that the
restaurant itself has served as a meeting place
for Nuccio's organisation, consequently making
it the perfect location for a revenge performed
by another mafia family.
Counter-Terrorists:
Your mission is to stop this unnecesary strike
of terror at all cost. You have been informed
of a possible bomb threat which is to be prevented
by any means neccesary. Secure the the entire
building. Do not let this operation turn into a
big bowl of bloody pasta!
Terrorists:
Your primary objective will be to eliminate
Bernardigio Nuccio and his family. The secondary
goal is to "clean" out all evidence of your
presence by planting a bomb in one of the two
strategical bomb spots. These two locations will
be the most efficient way to cause destruction
to this filthy mafia family that betrayed us.

Background:

The US- oilcompany "Gaz-O-Line" has
commenced their plan to take over the
European oilmarket by constructing a new
pipeline that cuts its way through
Europe's nature.
To prevent Gaz-O-Line from dominating
the European oilmarket, the concurence
has hired cruel terrorist groups to do
the most possible harm to the American
company.
As Gaz-O-Line is aware of the situation,
they themself have requested special-
forces from all over the World to secure
the construction of the pipeline and any
other Gaz-O-Line property.

Your primary target is to locate a weak-
spot of the Gaz-O-Line Pipeline and
destroy it by planting the c4 device we
have handed out to you. Eliminate any
threat you encounter. If the primary
target is inaccessable destroy the nearby

by Gaz-O-Line and there should still be
plenty of petrol left in the tanks to
create some nice fireworks.

somewhere in a desolate mountain region.

garage.
Counter-Terrorists:
Prevent the Terrorists from succeding in there
quest to destroy this gas station.

If somebody remodels a map ( while porting it to a different game ), does that make them the author?
It's not a 100% porting job ( as in such a case nothing of the architexture is changed ).
In my eyes the original mapper remains the same.

@qoLmE : I have had chat with Izuko in the past, most of his works are basic edits and entity changes - as such the original mapper remains the same, the editor however is still an important contributor for making it available in a different form

As it stands most of the mapping work is not merely work the architecture, certain maps benefit a lot from prefabs, custom textures and skyboxes but we can't fill them all out here, so those need to be mentioned in readme instead

Depends, porting from HL to CS or CS to HL is as easy as changing the entities of the map. I could do that via BSPEdit. It's even easier to convert a HL map for OP4 or vice versa due to many common entities.

When porting to a completely different game engine, you need to decompile map on one engine, edit it as necessary and recompile to other engine. In most cases this is a tedious task, generally a good mapper would just prefer recreating the map in new engine

Anyways deciding on a map author is a non-trivial task. There are also cases where someone who doesn't know how to map drafts a "floor plan" of the map on a piece of paper and someone who can map implements it. So creativity comes from one person and implementation from someone else

One single input field is not enough to convey all this info, but readme and proper tags searching mechanisms help. I like to see all maps that have Sock's egyptian textures regardless of who author is because those textures look really good as an example

@qoLmE not clue about the example given of porting from hl to cs, but I'm porting maps from source to goldsrc and the process is: decompile into vmf, open the vmf in jack, convert the source entities into their goldsrc equivalents, convert and reapply the textures, decompile and recompile the models, fix errors caused by the decompiler, optimize, then finally recompile for goldsrc

I like to argue that authorship goes to however compiled the map because each new compile is unique I think, you can get a mismatch if you recompile the same map a second time even without any changes, so the game seemingly recognizes each compilation as distinct
